Brave GISTer lived life “Texas big”
Richard "Rick" W. Abbiehl, 43, lost his battle with GIST Cancer on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Rick was born on March 23, 1967 to Michael and Sharolyn (Early) Abbiehl of North Liberty, IN. On July 3, 2005 in Buchanan, MI, he married the former Teena L. Calvert. Surviving Rick are his parents; wife, Teena; daughter, Jennifer (Cassidy) Bryan of South Bend; four grandchildren, Ethan, David, Bailey and Austin Bryan; a sister, April Anne Abbiehl and her son, Dustin of North Liberty; half-sister, Mary (Denny) Perry of Osceola and a half brother, Michael (Cathy) Abbiehl of Mishawaka.
Rick was a Technician for Midas for eight years and for the last year and a half he worked for Gates. He loved fabricating show trucks. He was an ASE Master Certified Technician. He was a member of The Vineyard Church, an avid Bow hunter; he enjoyed fishing, racing quads and mud boggers. Whatever Rick did, he did “Texas” big.
