AMN107 is also known as Nilotinib (generic) and Tasigna®. It is similar to Gleevec, but is more potent.

AMN107 may be able to inhibit some of the secondary mutations that cause resistance to Gleevec and/or Sutent. AMN107 also reaches higher concentrations in GIST tumor cells compared to Gleevec. This may be due to better drug transport into tumor cells and/or less drug transport out of tumor cells.
